Gross....

We're at a recently dumped Holiday Inn Express. The place doesn't have any signs except for a banner on the side of the building. It still has all the Holiday Inn literature and towels and all that stuff. The only good part is that there is internet and it works well.

I don't even know where we are.... Something like 33 miles from the western border of Illinois.

Our car had a flat today when we went to leave. The garage in town didn't have our tire, and it took until noon for it to get in. So we left about 12:30 Eastern, and we didn't stop until 10 something. We tried other places first, but there must be something going on because almost everywhere we went, they were booked full up.

Well, we're expected back home tomorrow. I have been told I had a visitor while we were out of town/state/region too. And I need to get to bed so we can get on the road tomorrow.

I can't wait to be home.

zOMG!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I were at home right now.

Rumor has it there was a power surge while we were away. I left Folding@Home running back there, and now it's screeched to a halt because it lost power just long enough to break everything. Makes me want to build/buy a UPS unit for that computer. It does some rather important stuff, you know.

I don't know if I posted this here or not but my dad wouldn't buy a new power inverter so we could use the laptop in the car. He says it's a waste of money, even though there are other uses we could find for the thing. It's not like it was designed specifically for the laptop or something.

Well, it's already MIDNIGHT now EDT! That's late, I suppose. I should bed.

But that's going to stop when we get home. Then I will start staying up late again.

Anyways, 'night all! I'll be speaking with you via broadband next time, probably. Tomorrow is the last full day we are in PA.

The Excitement!!!

We went to see my great-aunt and some of her kids and their families today. It was fun, even though me and my sister were the only kids there. I told them about my experience with the car and the tool cabinet. If you haven't heard it, I think you can figure it out from that, no?

Anyways, I'm going to do some writing here soon so I can put this bugger away and sleep.

We're going to follow Route 8 some. I promise I'll take at least some pictures. :)

My dA Page might have more in the journal entry there. I honestly don't remember....

Anyways, I'll be off now. :)

Dialup SUCKS MAJOR ASS!!!!!!!! I just spent an hour trying to stay connected for fifteen minutes! THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT NETZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope they go out of business....... Drop me sixteen times in one hour..... idiots.

Well, I actually got to write this morning. A whole two or three sentences, granted, but at least I did. I hate not having nearly any privacy like this..... It's unbearable. I have to write this post in Safari for Win32 because I'm the only one who uses it on this compy. And I have to sit in the kitchen while I do!!!! Grr!

Well, again, I make no promises of the amount of time that will pass untill I next post, but I will try to make it soon.

Well, the dog's at the kennel and 3/4 of the house is in bed. That leaves me. We leave tomorrow at 5-ish.

I'm moderately excited. I may be able to get online at the hotel Saturday night here (with MSN/WLM) but I doubt it seriously.

The only good thing is that it brings new opportunities to take pictures of stuff! YAY! That makes me excited.

Let me rephrase that. It's one of two things. I get to see my Grandma. yay. (Don't tell her, but I'm not that terribly excited...)

Hey everyone.

Sorry I haven't updated in a long time. I've been a little out of it lately. By that, I mean more than usual. The fact that I'm posting mid-day from the living room should give you that idea.

Anyways, I've been writing stuff again, and I have a teaser or two and a complete story to post on dA, but I haven't gotten around to typing them up yet. I'm just kinda being lazy right now. That and this keyboard is not the kind I envision doing any kind of extended typing on.... A very difficult to use one I have... Bad key spacing. Either that or I just have big hands...... I think it's the latter of the two.

Anyways, I should get typing on that stuff I have waiting.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm going out of town this weekend and probably won't be back for a couple of weeks, and more than likely I won't have internet access while we're gone. You'll all have to just act like I'm not missing and stuff so no one gets suspicious. (Sorry.... It's probably only funny to me because of something I wrote.)

My Monday is coming to a close here.

Since at least one person seemed to want to know why the flag looks mirrored in the pictures I have, NASA has the answer!

Although at first glance it appears wrong, the flag on the shuttle Orbiter is not truly backward. The regulation for displaying a U.S. flag on a national vehicle states that the star field must be positioned at the front of the vessel (the nose cone end of the shuttle), as if the flag were "flying" along the side of the ship. This causes the flag to look as though it were backward on one side of the Shuttle.

I did very little today. I tried to play Half-Life 2, but it kept locking up right after the first loading point. Stupid game. Then I played a bit of Counter-Strike: Source. Died like 20 times because I'm a noob, and now I'm here.

Well, I'm going to do some writing again. My writing last night wasn't too productive. : \ Then I want to learn about running a CS:S gun game server, rather than a traditional Counter-Strike game server.

Anyways, yeah. I'm off now.

EDIT: DAMN YOU NTFS! I have managed to break access to about 2/3 of my stuff because I tried to keep prying eyes out of my directory. Now I have to log in as the administrator and take ownership of everything, ONE AT A TIME and make EVERYTHING visible again. Again, DAMN YOU NTFS!!!!!!!!!

EDIT 2: Thank you internet! I found an article on "taking ownership of NTFS items" and I managed to take ownership of the whole hierarchy of problems. Then I refreshed them with the root drive permissions and closed off the "Security" tab for now. I don't want to fuck it up again. That was atrocious!!!!

You're not going to believe what I got to take pictures of!

YES!!! That's the space shuttle Atlantis, resting peacefully at Offutt AFB, NE with much commotion. A once in a lifetime chance we had, and we took it. I grabbed my camera and the tripod and took pictures! YAY! I had to use an 8 second shutter though. Yes, it was exposed to light for over a second. That way I could use low sensitivities to reduce noise and still get a (rather) crisp image.

I don't think these are illegal or anything, because we we told we should call to get clearance, and they said it's probably fine... It's not like there's any military secrets in the pictures.... Not that I know of.

The EXIF headers on that image were copied from one directly from the camera. The link was obviously photohacked together, which removed the EXIF headers. Check the time! 10 something CDT. And they turned out that nice.

Oh, by the way, your welcome for bestowing the following bit of trivia that I didn't know before:
On the shuttle, there is a NASA logo, the words "United States" and then our flag, but the flag is mirrored.

Anyone know why? I do. *evil grin*

I need to write stuff... It's good for me and I haven't been doing it lately. I think I'm going to write something else like "The Life Wish" in a way. Should be interesting, since I have the idea started already. I just need to finish it. :)

I'm in one of those strange moods. I don't even know how I feel. And then, I know I should be doing something, yet no matter what I do, it feels like I'm not doing what I should be. It sucks because I feel so unproductive, and I don't like that much, honestly.

I made an ouchie with the car today. My dad made me drive part of the way home from practicing in an empty subdivision, and I made it alright, but I hit the metal toolchest when I pulled in the garage. He was talking though, so I was distracted. It's not fair. The tool chest got dinged pretty bad, but there's just a little mark on the car. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPS!!!!!!!!

Well, for once this wolf is tired before 2 AM! it's quite unusual, huh? Last time I slept was at 10:30 AM. Then I woke up at 3 something. Yeah.

EDIT: I ended up waking up at 8 something because of my eye. I don't know what the hell it's problem is, but it hurts like no other and it won't stop. Stupid eye.
